The boys and girls basketball teams played Manhattan High, February 14, at home during the annual Red Out fundraiser game. Both teams are anxiously awaiting postseason play, so the last games of the season are crucial to determine which team plays on their own court during post-season.

The Lady Spartans ended the night with a win and final score of 40-34. With the win, the Spartans moved their record to 15-3.

This was a rematch for the girls team after suffering their first loss of the season to Manhattan on January 17. The Lady Spartans bounced back a strong game on Tuesday.

“Going into the game we were determined and ready to play how we should’ve the first time. We played with a chip on our shoulder,” Lexsey DeWitt (11) said.

The Emporia boys basketball team also ended the night with a win and final score of 44-40. Their current record is 13-5.

The Spartans secured the season sweep of the Indians after beating them in Manhattan on January 24.

Both teams will be in action again at Junction City on Friday, February 17. This will be both teams’ second time playing the Blue Jays. During the first game, the Lady Spartans won 56-24, and the boys lost 39-52.
