The boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Great Bend on Friday for their final games before winter break. The teams put in good effort and had a great battle on both ends.

The Lady Spartans ended the night with a win and final score of 45-39.

The Emporia boys basketball team suffered their first loss of the season, with a final score of 65-66.

Both teams have had a successful start to the 22-23 season.  The girls team is going into winter break with a record of 6-0 and the boys with a record of 5-1.

Both teams have stepped up tremendously this year filling many different roles, especially for seniors who graduated last year.

“We’ve been really good this year at keeping the energy up and not slowing down,” Parker Leeds (12) said.

The teams will be in action again at home when they take on Hayden January 3. This will be the second time both teams will play the Wildcats, with the girls winning the first meeting 52-27, and the boys winning 57-52.
